5 in 5 – Owning Your Digital Assets!

We rolled out a fun, new video series this week, 5 tips in 5 days: Owning Your Digital Assets!  We created this video series to encourage business owners and marketing professionals to treat the digital tools they use to market and communicate with their customers as assets, rather than disposable expenses.

Part 1: Lost Domain Names Are No Fun!

There are many ways organizations and their domain names can go separate ways. It can be something as innocent as forgetting to pay a bill or as scary as outright theft. However, the fallout of a lost domain name is always the same. Your email stops working, customers can’t purchase products or learn about your business, or worse, your website is replaced with content by your domains new proud owner that you would rather not be there.

Part 2: Is Your Website an Asset or an Expense?

Is Your Website an Asset or an Expense? Part 2 of my 5 part series, "Owning Your Digital Assets," discusses the various types of hosting environments available on the web and for whom they are best suited.

Part 3: Are Social Media Pages an Asset or an Expense?

As a business owner or marketing director, the questions you need to be asking yourself include: #1, Do the social media pages for my business accurately reflect my organization's mission and brand? And #2, who has ownership or administrative access to these resources?

Part 4: Reputation Management & Local Listings

As a business owner or marketing director, the questions you need to be asking yourself on the topic of reviews and listings are: #1, if a person reviews your business, are you or a trusted partner replying to both positive and negative reviews promptly? and #2, do the listings for your business accurately reflect your business "citations" and brand? By citations, we are referring to things like your business name, address, phone number, hours of operation, etc.

Part 5: Do You Rent or Own AdWords & Analytics?

As a business owner or marketing director, the questions you need to be asking yourself about AdWords and Analytics are: #1, does my organization have ownership / administrative access to the two important resources? And #2,  if you choose to move to a new agency or bring your marketing in-house, will you be able to inherit YOUR years of keyword rank, user behavior, and remarketing lists?
